Conference Craft recently worked a two day event held at the Lensbury Conference Centre, Teddington, for information communications company, Informa. The impactful event was for a two day leadership conference – the first of its kind within the company which saw delegates involved come together for the first time as a team.
Space Saving Solutions
With 120 Informa delegates attending the event, it was necessary that the room facilitated this number of guests both comfortably and to health & safety parameters, so, we devised solutions to maximise the space the room provided. We incorporated some clever space saving techniques including the use of LED screens – the biggest of which was mounted on the stage backdrop – instead of projection equipment which would have required further space.
The chosen room for the event was home to four structural floor to ceiling pillars of which had to be taken into consideration when planning the room layout. To ensure these would not disrupt seating arrangements, we decided to incorporate the stage area to work around two of the main pillars.
Design – The Event Theme
Conference Craft were appointed for the design and build of the set as well as the provision of a selection of AV equipment. We designed and created a bespoke, branded backdrop made up of one continuous printed graphic which housed the main, brand new 75” LED display. The stage area itself was designed to work seamlessly around two of the structural pillars in the room; the backdrop was measured to fit precisely in between them, with plain staggered panels either side of the stage, illuminated by striking purple uplights. Two further 55” high definition screens were installed in the room making sure all delegates were able to see the goings on of the event clearly.
Turning Potential Obstacles Into Advantages
Rather than seeing the floor-to-ceiling pillars as distractions, we saw them instead as blank canvases with a great deal of visual potential. We decided to use them to our advantage – creating bespoke, branded printed wraps to dress them, incorporating textured patterns as well as slogans linked to the event.
In Conclusion
Both Conference Craft and Informa were pleased with how the event turned out – the space was used to its best potential and the bespoke backdrop and printed pillar wraps worked as planned to draw the company’s cohesive message together.
