We were recently involved in a “Topping Out” ceremony in central London.

‘But what is a topping out ceremony?’ I hear you say!

With roots stretching back to the Dark Ages, a “Topping Out” ceremony celebrates the project milestone of putting the last structural steel beam or final roofing piece on a building.

Our clients marked the occasion by hosting a “Topping Out” event, during which they placed the final piece of concrete onto the roof themselves.

The Event

To capture the moment, we provided a high definition LED screen, staging area and camera so that we could stream the moment down to a presentation room 16 floors below the roof (see below image).

In order to achieve a clear and crisp image for onlookers, we used a fibre optic cable, which we fed through the ventilation system of the building and connected up to the presentation room.
